AS A RESULT OF CONCERNS raised by a number of individuals, including Frank Field MP, concerning the practice of “securities lending”, the Pensions Regulator has issued a short statement1 on the topic for scheme trustees ahead of revising its guidance on internal controls. “Securities lending” or “stock lending” is the practice whereby investors lend securities for a fixed period in return for a fee and collateral to cover the loan.
